Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's):

Although LPL has a wide variety of events and has been hosting events in and around Chicagoland for over 29 years, pleanty of people have questions about who we are and what we do... etc. Amazingly, a lot of the same questions always seem to appear, so we have decided to publish the answers to the most common of these questions.

  1. (Q.) Who/What are the Lincoln Park Lagooners?
    (A.)
This question can be answered in detail by our main Information* page along with additional club information & history links listed on that page.
  2. (Q.) How do I become a member?
    (A.)
You can become a member simply by attending an event. (Most events require registration or an RSVP prior to the event.) No sponsorship is required; just a positive attitude, a smile, and the desire for a good time.
  3. (Q.) Do I need to pay membership dues?
    (A.)
No. There are no membership dues. The club is self-supported by registration fees on most of the individual activities.
  4. (Q.) What should I do to get involved?
    (A.)
Submit your name and email address on the Contact Us* page and we will add you to the mailing list. Upcoming events are listed on the calendar of our website. In addition, our monthly (sometimes twice-monthly) newsletters give details and registration information on what is coming up next.  You are welcome to attend any events that we sponsor and if you have questions about registration or the event itself, contact phone numbers or email addresses are always listed.
  5. (Q.) What type of things does LPL do?
    (A.)
Please see the events* page for a listing and description of activities with links to the "home pages" of several of the main events. Also see the Information* page for a general overview of the group and its philosophies.
  6. (Q.) Are there any requirements to maintain membership?
    (A.)
You are not required to pay dues or make any committments; you may participate as much or as little as you wish.  Some members attend everything that we organize, and others faithfully attend one particular event year after year. The one requirement that does affect membership status is that you must be considered "active" to vote for the Board of Directors at the annual meeting in April. Active status is defined as members who participate in at least two events over the previous 16 months.
  7. (Q.) How do I register for an event?
    (A.)
Simply follow the link provided in your e-newsletter or on one of the event pages online (or call the phone number if applicible). Registration forms and directions to event sites are available from the forms page as well. Most events that require a registration or an RSVP allow you to either register online, print/mail a registration form, or email.
  8. (Q.) How often are the events?
    (A.)
On average there are one or two major events that occur in a month; however, most event are scheduled according to convenience and/or tradition so the calendar varies from month to month. (This answer does not actually apply to our bowling league, which meets every week from September through April.)
  9. (Q.) Does LPL give back to the Community or make any charitable donations?
    (A.)
Absolutely! For a more detailed answer to this question, please see our Community* page, which includes a list of some recent examples that we have tried to help out.
  10. (Q.) Can I bowl with LPL without joining the bowling league for the whole season?
    (A.)
Yes, we almost always have space for subs in any given week. In addition, Waveland bowl is open for non-bowlers who would like to come visit or cheer on your favorite team. The alley has a full restaurant and bar inside along with plentiful seating & tables, which in recent years has helped to encourage a drastic increase in the number of "cheerleaders".
