From the Rafting Trip - The "New" Glacier Wilderness

logoGlacier Wilderness Campground in Elton, WI has not only been the camping home of LPL's yearly rafting trip for many many years, but it become an monument of wonderful memories for generations of Lagooners.

2004's camping season saw the new ownership of the grounds breathe lots of vibrant new air into the facility as well as LPL rafting trip event which rents out the entire campground, making it "our own". Rick & Judy, who appeared the past couple years as "help", became the new owners of the campground this year and immediately started making improvements and fixing up things both above and below the surface. They have many plans for the future, but already in this first "new" season, the LPL contingant was able to notice a cleaner, more organized, and much better serviced campground. (You know how some of us can be critical about decorating!) In addition to the fix-it's (and perhaps most importantly to some), our meals this year were undoubtedly the best, most delicious, and most plentiful that this group has ever seen!

Since all their impressive hard work is paralleled by such great personalities and a caring, helpful attitude that is hard to come by these days, we thought it would only be fitting to include Rick & Judy in our traditional "awards banquet" that typically takes place on the Saturday of the Rafting Trip. To express our thanks and appreciation for their helpfulness, LPL gave an award to Rick and Judy labeled the "Extreme Make-Over Award: Homo Edition", to recognize them for the work they have done to transform both the campground and our vacation itself.

Glacier wilderness campground now has a website: www.glacierwildernesscampground.com and includes a link to email them if you want to send any of your personal feedback, thanks, or words of encouragement to Rick & Judy to let them know that their efforts are appreciated and that we are very much looking forward to next year!
