Directions from Chicago to Glacier Wilderness Campground in Wisconsin

  • Take I-94 North to Milwaukee.
  • In Milwaukee, take I-43 North to Green Bay.
  • As you approach Green Bay, take Hwy 172 West 6 Miles to Hwy. 41 North. Go 4 Miles to Hwy 29/32 West. Stay on Hwy 29 West which later merges with Hwy 47/55 into Shewano, about 32 miles.
  • Once in Shewano, take Hwy 47/55 North to Keshena.
  • Just past Keshena, Hwy 47/55 splits. Take Hwy 55 North This 25 mile stretch of the journey is the part of the drive you may have heard about. This 2 lane highway runs right through the Menominee Indian Reservation. It is very scenic yet can be a challenge to drive, particlulary since you've already driven 250 miles. The terrain is partuclarly hilly, and the road has many sharp curves.
  • Turn Left on Hwy 64 West.
  • Glacier Wilderness is just a few miles down the road on the left. (Gas Station on the right side)

The trip to the campground is about 280 miles from Chicago and should take 5-6 hours. It is interstate highway all the way to Green Bay.
